What can a regular support group do for me?

Making time for ourselves seems to be all the rage at the moment but can also seem impossible and difficult to justify.

With so many options for Self Care out there, why choose a talking group instead of anything else?

Firstly, there is no "better" or "not good" way to do self care. If something works for you - wild swimming, yoga, soundbath, dancing, walking the dog, talking to friends - then it works.

Talking groups, however, can help you over time in a number of ways:

  • You're likely not alone in your challenges. Even if someone isnt going through exactly the same as you, hearing what others are living through helps you to feel less alone.

  • Noone is going to judge you. A talking group isnt about giving or getting advice, or judging other people, its about building a group of supporters who can hear you speak your mind without the risk of upsetting anyone or damaging relationships.

  • Get ideas about different ways to handle situations in your life, and different perspectives. Again, not because people are going to try and tell you how to live your life - but because we can really talk about how decisions that we or others have made, have affected us, and maybe choose to make different decisions. And then the group will be there next month to hear how it went, celebrate or commiserate with you.

  • Get different perspectives on big and small things. In our hyper connected and online world, it can be easy to end up in an echo chamber. Talking to real people about the things that matter to you in the here and now is important for our mental health and to keep an open mind throughout life.

If any of that sounds interesting, why not give a session a try? The first one is 8th April at 6.30pm and is Free. https://www.calmer-collective.com/event-details/second-wednesdays-monthly-support-circle-2026-04-08-18-30
